Death by PowerPoint in a Zoom meeting!
The worst culprits are those who over-analyse the numbers slide after slide. Yes, data is the lifeblood of any business, but scrutinising it and, worse still, looking at the wrong numbers make for sterile meetings and wasted time.
So, I recommend setting a limit, which for my clients is 20 critical sets of data. I believe that 20 numbers are the most that a team can handle, focus on, track, and improve with any consistency.
Before too long, you’ll be at the point where meetings are no longer all about the numbers. Instead, the numbers only report, and the majority of time is spent on resolution, reaction, productivity and staring at people’s cats in the background.
If mindless meetings are extinguishing the fire of passion for your business, please join me in one of my online Boardroom Insights sessions (link in comments) and learn to love again.
