“Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare”…

“Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare” is a famous Japanese proverb, and addressing this balance in organisations is how I spend a lot of my time.

Part of finding this balance is having the right people in the right seats, especially in the leadership team where, hopefully, you will find The Visionary and The Integrator – as defined by EOS, the Entrepreneurial Operating System:

– The Visionary. Usually, the person who had the original great idea for the business. They explore ways to expand and push ideas forward.

– The Integrator. The person who thrives on putting systems and processes in place to bring order to the chaos. They are a great manager, good at holding people accountable and creating consistency.

Together, they are the superhero duo that has the vision and action to make the dream a reality. The trouble is, the lines are often blurred, or people often sit across both roles, and the dream quickly becomes a stressful nightmare.

Finding the balance is critical and wonderful when you get it right. If you’d like to see what this can look like in your business, come along to a Boardroom Insights session. Link in the first comment below.
