Rock, Paper, Scissors!

In business, you must know how to play your game! And in order to win your match, become skilled and competent enough in anticipating the next choices and moves of your opponent!

This Rock, Paper, Scissors game is well-known around the world, most specifically in Asia. But how can this game change the way you think in running your business?

Well, let’s have a recap about the rules:

  1. If you choose Rock, you will win against Scissors but lose against Paper.
  2. If you choose Scissors, you will win against Paper but lose against Rock.
  3. If you choose Paper, you will win against Rock but lose against Scissors.

Rock stands for your People

Paper is your Visons, Goals and Plans

Scissors are the Results or Outcomes.

The organization’s visions, goals and plans must be with the same page with your people. Otherwise, your rock (people) will lose track against your paper (vision, goal and plans). And what might happen? You will definitely lose the game. They will continue encountering issues at work owing to the fact that your targets and objectives are not clearly identified and point out.

If you prioritize the outcome (scissors) without considering your people (rocks), then you will only have your papers and scissors as your strength. A plan without the right people doing the right action are plans resulting to failure. Again, you’ll keep losing the game.

Moreover, drawing most of your attention in visualizing and planning without identifying the right role and task for your rocks will surely upshot non-fulfillment of plans and lack of success. Your own scissors will cut you out of the game!

Therefore, maybe this game is an indicator of what the organization might be lacking if these three components are not present. This might be the bullet that your opponent may see in targeting your weakness. Never let any of your competitors foresee your next moves.

Are you ready to play the game? Let me know in the comments below.
