Bad news, it’s the quiet ones that you’ve got to watch! They may well be a ‘sly non-comply’ and could be doing a lot more harm than good to your business. They’re all about the paycheck rather than a passion for their role. These people never openly disagree with decisions. Instead, they ignore tasks they don’t believe in and before you know it, everything is off track and that part of the business fails to grow.
What are the red flags?
Well, you have a rare and brilliant Leadership Team if nobody ever expresses a different point of view. An engaged employee never agrees with everything, so constant head-nodders could just be going through the motions.
How do you smoke them out?
I’ve said it before, the best way is to define some measurables around their role to make sure they ‘GWC’ the seat. Get the culture, Want to excel in the role and have the Capacity to get things done.
If they’re not ticking those boxes, then it might be time to make some tough decisions about these quiet non-achievers.
