Will you get off to a stellar or sluggish start in 2021?
Many people will be kicking back into gear today. However, it can be a struggle to get out of first gear in early January, especially when your momentum is slowed by the biggest time and energy drainer known to business owners: meetings.
Luckily, there are plenty of ways to make things run more smoothly during your weekly ‘big picture’ team meetings. Here are a couple of my favourites.
1. Get strict about starting the meeting precisely on time, no matter what. At the stroke of 9am (or whatever your chosen time) the chat stops and the meeting starts. If that means diarising the meeting for 8.55am, then do that. Maybe invest in a foghorn!
2. Go around the room and ask everyone to quickly share some good news from their area of the company. A) It gets people in a positive frame of mind and B) They are immediately focused ON the business, not in the business. Ideally, this should take no longer than five minutes in total and sets you up nicely for the rest of the agenda.
